"The construction of the Alqueva dam submerged a vast territory with a particular metric, geometry and scale, which was the matrix and the secular testimony of the symbiotic relationship between man and the environment that surrounds him.

Instantly, disappeared a landscape that was simultaneously idea and artifact, a result of the dynamic interplay between the natural forces that activated it and the man who was its builder.

This project aims to map the successive process of disappearance, thus recovering the topographical memory and identity of this country.

Using drawings, photographs and mapping, we propose to develop various temporal sequences that are successive approximations to all the extensive submerged fields, rescuing their most special characteristics and hence its character."
Paulo Palma, Rita Catarino

This residency will originate a temporary exhibition, in 2015.
